The Atlas Sphere is a 300mm cast concrete sphere used as a decorative pier finial, available with a matching stand. Two products are listed: the sphere and the stand. Suited to gate piers, boundary pillars, and entrance features where a classical sphere finial is specified.
The Atlas Sphere is 300mm in diameter, cast in concrete to match the visual weight and presence of a traditional stone sphere finial at a more accessible cost. The matching stand is listed separately and provides a flat-bottomed seating to locate the sphere on the pier head — important for stability and to prevent rotation. Both pieces should be ordered together if the sphere is to be fixed permanently.
A 300mm sphere is proportioned for piers from approximately 380mm upward. On a 380mm pier (1.5×1.5 brick) it provides a modest, restrained finial. On 520mm or larger piers it sits with more visual weight. If you are specifying for a pier narrower than 380mm, the sphere may appear oversized — contact us if you need guidance on proportion.
The sphere should be bedded onto the stand using a suitable mortar or adhesive, and the stand bedded to the pier cap in the same way. In exposed locations or where there is a risk of displacement — near a road or high-footfall entrance — consider mechanical fixing through the stand into the pier cap below. Lead time is 2–3 weeks made to order.
