We stock concrete dye in three quantities — 500g, 1kg, and 5kg — for use in colouring mortar, render, and jointing compounds. The dye is an integral pigment rather than a surface paint, giving a stable colour that does not peel or fade in the way surface coatings can. Available in colour-matched options to complement our coping stone range.
Concrete dye is an iron oxide pigment added to the mix water or dry mix to produce a consistent coloured concrete or mortar. It is used most commonly on coping stone projects for bedding mortar and pointing, so that the joint colour complements rather than clashes with the coping stone colour. It is also used for coloured renders, concrete pads, and path construction. It is an additive — it does not work as a surface treatment on already-cast concrete.
The 500g size suits small jobs — single pier caps, a short run of copings, or a trial mix. The 1kg size covers a medium wall section or a full-day pointing job. The 5kg size is appropriate for a full project with substantial bedding and pointing requirements, or for trade use across multiple jobs. Dosage rates vary by colour depth required — start with the manufacturer recommendation and adjust to sample.
Ordering a colour-matched concrete dye alongside your coping stones ensures the bedding mortar complements the stone colour. The additives category also lists a Colour Matched Concrete Dye product specifically paired to our coping stone colour range. Contact us on 01664 454 572 for advice on which dye colour to specify for your chosen coping stone finish.
The 5kg size is the most practical format for contractors and landscapers working across multiple projects. Trade accounts are available. If you require larger quantities for a commercial project, contact us for bulk pricing.
