The fluted apex pier cap combines a four-weathered pyramid profile with vertical channel fluting down each face, giving a decorative finish suited to formal entrances, heritage-style builds, and estate work. Four sizes are available: 380×380mm (1.5×1.5 brick), 450×450mm, 510×370mm, and 520×520mm (2×2 brick), in precast concrete made to order.
The fluted apex profile rises to a central point with falls on all four sides — identical drainage behaviour to the standard four weathered apex — but with vertical channel grooves running down each face. The fluting adds visual weight and period character without affecting water-shedding performance. This cap suits formal gate piers, estate boundary walls, and any build where the pier cap is a visible design element rather than purely functional.
Four sizes: 380×380mm (1.5×1.5 brick), 450×450mm, 510×370mm (rectangular, suited to non-square pier plans), and 520×520×170mm (2×2 brick). Heights range from approximately 140–170mm — taller than flat or standard four weathered caps due to the decorative apex profile.
The drainage performance of the fluted apex is equivalent to the standard four weathered cap. The difference is entirely aesthetic: fluted caps have the channel detail, standard caps have a plain face. If cost is the primary factor and appearance is secondary, the standard four weathered is the more economical choice. For feature piers and entrance pillars, the fluted apex is the stronger specification.
