Flat coping stones give a level, clean finish across the wall head — no ridge, no pitch, a simple horizontal cap. We manufacture 12 sizes, primarily at 600mm length in widths from 170mm to 550mm, plus a 440×215mm option, a narrow 500×140mm, and a large-format 500×600mm slab. All are precast concrete, made to order, with a standard 50mm height (37.5mm for the 440×215mm, 60mm for the 550mm wide).
Flat coping suits contemporary architectural styles, low retaining walls, and applications where a minimal profile is specified. It is also the most practical choice where a wall top needs to carry fixtures, railings, or a secondary component, since there is no raised ridge to work around. For garden walls where both faces are exposed, consider whether once or twice weathered might provide better long-term water management before specifying flat.
Standard 600mm length products run from 170mm to 550mm wide, all at 50mm height except the 550mm wide which is 60mm. Outside the standard length: the 440×215×37.5mm is a lower-profile option suited to lighter sections, the 500×140×50mm is a narrow cap for slim walls, and the 500×600×50mm is a large-format slab suited to pier tops or wide capping applications. All are made to order at 2–3 weeks.
Flat copings should always be laid with a slight fall to the front face (typically 1:40) to ensure surface water drains clear of the wall. This is achieved through bedding mortar, not through the stone profile. If your wall is fully exposed on both sides, a twice weathered profile may be preferable as it sheds water passively without relying on lay accuracy.
Flat copings are a popular choice for housebuilder and landscaping specifications. Trade accounts are available; contact us on 01664 454 572 for volume pricing. Bespoke lengths and widths outside the listed range are available on request — minimum quantities apply.
